Genital herpes, which is caused by the herpes simplex virus. They typically have the size and shape of a grain of rice. They may be flat or project out from the surface of the skin, and their color may vary brownish, white, pale yellow, pinkish-red, or gray. The most frequent are infections such as candida or viral warts, or inflammatory skin diseases such as eczema or psoriasis. Also known as acrochordons, skin tags are common in the skin creases of the groin in middle aged men. Most are harmless but these symptoms may indicate a more troublesome condition that would benefit from early intervention. ![]() Itching and pain are the most frequent symptoms and there can be several underlying reasons for this. Patients are often too embarrassed to discuss these with their GP and so there may be a long delay before they seek expert advice.
